AGM

Dear members,

The General Committee of Bromley Canoe Club would like to invite all club members, their friends and family to the Annual General Meeting and Social Evening on the 4th February 2017 the venue is the Scout Headquarters on Tiepigs Lane, Bromley.

The evening will start from 6:30pm with the usual welcome and pre-amble with the club AGM starting at 7:00pm prompt. Club members are encouraged to come along and review the clubs activities over the last year and also to review the club finances. Also, new proposals and events will be discussed as part of the AGM.

Finally, club members can nominate new committee members to join the committee for the coming year. If you would like to nominate either a club member or yourself for a role on the committee, please email philr@bromleycanoeclub.org.uk

Once the AGM formalities are over, the social activities will start this includes food, the cuisine will be Hog Roast style Pulled Pork or BBQ Pulled Pork or a vegetarian option served in a large bap all served with the suitable accompaniments of apple sauce, coleslaw and pickles.

We ask you to indicate your attendance by booking a space on web collect, there will be an option to select which food option you would like or no food if you would prefer not to eat. Please still book on web collect if you are intending on coming but not eating.

The cost of the food will be £4 for adults and £2 for children. Please could you indicate any dietary requirements, Nut allergies etc. to Bridget on bridget@bromleycanoeclub.org.uk

Following this as usual the quiz and activities suitable for all club members, friends and family will commence.

We would like all club members to attend and support this event, which is always good fun – especially as the quiz is “not just a kayaking” quiz and everyone is welcome to attend.

Notice to All Members

In accordance with the club’s constitution you are warmly invited to attend the Annual General Meeting to be held from 6:30pm on Saturday 4th February 2017. All are welcome but please note that only club members can vote on motions and resolutions. Family memberships entitle members to one vote per family.

Any motions to be raised at the AGM should be made to myself in writing (email will be acceptable) by Thursday 2nd February 2017 at the latest.

The AGM includes the process of dissolution of the current committee and creation of a new one for the coming year. It also includes voting for a new Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary.

The following must be true of anyone who wishes to stand:

Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary – Club member for a minimum of 2 years
In addition the Treasurer must have served on the committee for a minimum of 1 year
Committee Members – Club member and over 17 years of age

The committee consists of the following roles:

  • Chairman
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Vice Chairman
  • Safety Officer
  • Protection Officer
  • Training Lead
  • Events Lead
  • Facilities and Equipment Lead
  • Membership Lead
  • Communications Lead

If you are interested in any of these roles please read the job descriptions or talk to one of the committee. In addition we will be looking for others to join sub-committees to help committee members to organise events and training, communications and help with equipment and facilities.

By taking this approach we hope more people feel that they can get involved in the running the club, as we are aware that not everyone can help out all of the time much as they would like to. We believe this approach helps to make the club more inclusive and hopefully develop even more the friendly environment we already have. The club cannot be run by the Committee alone, so we need your help.
