On Saturday 4th September, the annual Lee Valley White Water trip will be taking place to the Olympic White Water Centre.
With a one year break due to COVID in 2020, we have the Legacy White Water course booked for the club and club members who have some experience of white water are very much encouraged to book onto this trip. If you have not experienced white water before but you have skills on moving water (such as the river Medway), this trip might also be suitable for you. If you are not sure, please ask a member of the committee for advice before booking on.
The course has been booked for us to use from 5:30 to 7:30 on Saturday evening. Here is a plan for the day:
If you require any club kit, you will need to arrive at “The Den” for 11:00am to collect any kit for the trip.
Briefing for the white water course will be at 4:45pm. Please ensure you have arrived at the Lee Valley White Water centre and are changed and ready for the water at this time.
Course walk-round with a coach / river leader will be at 5:00pm for paddlers who are allocated to a coach or leader.
Paddling starts at 5:30pm onwards.
All briefings will take place at the white tent in the middle of the Legacy Course.
Please note, these times have been set to allow volunteers assisting this trip enough time to get organised and sorted before taking to the water.
If you are with a coach / leader, please be prepared to follow all the guidance and advice to enjoy your time on the water. You may be required to finish your paddling by 6:45PM / 7:00pm to allow all the volunteers an opportunity to enjoy their time on the water.
During the day, there will most likely be club members who will paddle on the Olympic course before the club session. It is always worth getting up to the Lee Valley White Water centre early to enjoy some lunch in the cafe, walk along the canal pathway and watch the action on the Olympic Course.
Tickets for this event must be booked on GoMembership and will cost £10 per person. This will include any kit or boat hire, which you must come and collect from “The Den”. We will try to promote club members to work together to share lifts and roof space to maximise travel arrangements.
If you have any questions, please send Ed an email or speak to him when he is next at the pool!
