A product warning has been issued by The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) into defective throwlines supplied by Riber Products Ltd.
It has been found that a number of throwlines have been made in sections where the polypropylene rope has been fused together. These joints broke easily when put under tension rendering them unusable and not fit for purpose.
RIBER products Ltd have accepted that there is a problem. They believe it relates to a specific batch and have issued the following advice:
- Inspect the throw rope to ensure that there are no flaws in the rope.
- If there is any doubt or question over the product you have received from us then please contact us immediately so we can arrange a refund or replacement. Contact: email@example.com
Everyone who owns or uses a RIBER throwline should carry out this simple check. It is important that you can rely on your throwline.
If you find any problems or cause for concern you should also notify The Marine Accident Investigation Branch on firstname.lastname@example.org
